Session Planning
As a Logansport family photographer, I loved being a vendor at the Cass County 4H fair for the past 2 years! This is where Amber and I first met, she stopped by my booth this past summer! She said her family had never hadn’t had professional photos taken for over 7 years and she needed help! Right from the start, she knew her kids were getting older and she needed to have these moments captured. I assured her I’d help her every step of the way.
While planning their session, Amber told me she had a few ideas of some portraits of her children. She wanted to showcase their personalities so we worked together and planned the following:
- Mallory – She loves art, drama, choir and loves to read…We decided the idea of glitter would be a fun, magical and artistic idea for her!
- Lea – She is very much like her sister but more girly, loving dresses and dancing! …We decided twirling and a few fashion portraits suited her.
- Ian – A true athletic kid with a passion for basketball…We couldn’t help but show off his favorite sport!
The Session
Let me tell you…They ROCKED their family session out at France Park and were so much fun to be around! The kids were a little nervous at first but soon they relaxed and were laughing and having a great time. I absolutely loved photographing the connection this family shares. You could just tell how interacted that they loved each other and were very close. As we were leaving the park, I told Amber that they had THE BEST golden light I’d seen all summer!
The Reveal & Design
During the planning process, Amber mentioned she had some frames she needed to replace the photos in. We decided that a reveal and design appointment would be perfect for her! The Reveal & Design appointment is always the best part of the entire experience. I go to my client’s home and we sit down together to see their images for the first time. Whether you’re looking for a canvas to hang, prints to replace, or creating a custom album, I love helping my clients preserve their memories!
After the reveal, they decided to order multiple mounted prints and I loved hanging out with Amber helping her with the frames. We even discovered our mutual love for Disney and she gave me a few movies I needed to watch! lol (“Maleficent” and “Cinderella” if you were wondering! ) Amber said she was so thankful I stayed and helped her because she knew that hanging her photos probably would have been put on the backburner with how busy their schedules were. This is what’s important to me. I’m a mom too, and I know how busy life can get. This is why I love helping families from start to finish! I absolutely cannot wait to photograph this family in the future and am so happy to have found a fellow Disney fan! Haha.
Tip: If you love the look of these images, this is called “golden light” or “golden hour”. You will hear photographers talk about this magic light and get very excited when they see it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been out with friends and have spotted perfect lighting situations and freak out a little. It’s a photographer thing. lol
Here are just a few from their Reveal & Design appointment where I came to their home. They were watching their reveal slideshow! Below that is the frames we replaced the photos in their bedroom!
