Kendall and Daniel’s Downtown Nashville Engagement Session was absolutely incredible! What started as a wedding inquiry, quickly turned into a quick trip to photograph their engagement session in Nashville, TN!
When Kendall first reached out inquiring about their wedding in Ocala, FL, I felt like we were a great match already. Her and Daniel had the cutest love story and they just seemed like such fun and down to earth people. After they booked me as their wedding photographer, I knew we had to do an engagement session. However our schedules didn’t quite match up since they lived in Nashville, TN. Since I had some free time in my schedule (and some airline miles to use), I offered to fly up to Nashville and do their engagement session there! They of course were thrilled and said yes!
Quick Thinking and Change of Plans
The day of their session was an absolute whirlwind of travel and fun, however it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Before my trip (and anytime I go someplace new), I researched the locations we would use for their session. My original plan was the War Memorial, the Pedestrian Bridge and then the River Lawn and Landing for the skyline. I had everything set in my head and was so excited.
From the airport, I had my Uber driver drop me off at a Starbucks next to our first location. I decided to head to the War Memorial early to scout out the best spots to start. However, the closer I got, I started to panic. There were high fences surrounding the entire memorial and I quickly realized that it was all closed. The entire War Memorial was not accessible and couldn’t be used for their session. I was crushed, a little panicked and so sad because I really wanted to use that spot.
At this point Kendall and Daniel were on their way to meet me, so I gave them a call and told them the bad news. Thankfully, I had a backup plan. I told them to pick me up and we would head to Centennial Park instead. It was close and offered a similar look that would be great for portraits. So they picked me up and we headed that way. As we pulled into the park, there were TONS of people everywhere. Much more than I had anticipated. Not only that, but a big section of the Parthenon was blocked off! It looked like they were setting up for some kind of concert. On the inside, I was freaking out knowing that now TWO of my locations hadn’t worked out. Realizing that location was also a bust, we decided to just head to the second two locations and start there.
Plan C Was The Winner
Once we arrived at the River Lawn and Landing, we finally began their session and it was amazing from there on out! Whew! But really, it was. Kendall and Daniel both have this naturally fun, laid back and yet spontaneous energy about them. They were so easy to get along with and we chatted all about their family, dogs, careers and upcoming wedding. We took photos along the river, with the skyline and then headed to the Pedestrian Bridge. It really was a perfect evening weather wise too! We couldn’t have been more grateful!
Their wedding is in April 2025 and I’m SO EXCITED to capture their day!!!
